David Bjurstrom Studio & Gallery at 64 N. Pioneer Street in Ashland, will be celebrating its Second Anniversary with a grand re-opening on First Friday, March 4th, from 5 to 8 PM. The opening comes after a complete remodeling and expansion of the gallery.

The First Friday reception also kicks off the featured show for March, "After O'Keeffe", a collection of Bjurstrom's detailed pencil drawings and his photography inspired by one of this country's greatest artists. "Georgia O'Keeffe has always had an enormous influence on my work and although my style and medium is very different than hers, I have often used some of the same themes and similar compositions. I have never consciously copied what she had done, but, in a broad sense, comparisons certainly can be made."

Bjurstrom has displayed his work in some of the most prestigious shows around the West, winning Best of Show and receiving other top recognitions from many of them. He is also a photographer whose work has appeared in many national magazines, books and catalogs, including those of Jackson & Perkins and Harry & David in Medford. In 2003, Sterling Publishing, a division of Barnes and Noble, in New York, published his book "Photographing Your Garden".
