Art and Soul Gallery and the Watercolor Society of Oregon
Art and Soul Gallery is proud to display the eighty selected paintings
for the fall exhibition of the Watercolor Society of Oregon (WSO).
WSO is recognized as being one of the country¹s finest watercolor
organizations and promoter of the medium of watercolor, sponsoring two
conventions and exhibitions each year. Its membership exceeds eight
hundred artists from every corner of the state, many of whom actively
participate in the exhibitions and conventions. Each convention
selcts a juror, an artist of national or international renown to teach
a workshop and select the exhibition paintings. The juror selects
eighty paintings from the hundreds of submitted images to represent the
very best of watercolor. From those eighty paintings, twenty will
receive awards and tour the state for six months. The twenty award
winners will be announced October 9th at the reception at Art and Soul
for the public. Be sure to stop by the gallery and see if you agree
with the selection. Paintings from this show will be for sale.
Our juror for the fall exhibition will be Barbara Nechis, nationally
known watercolorist, past director of the American Watercolor Society
and author of two outstanding watercolor books, ³ Watercolor from the
Heart² and ³Watercolor, the Creative Experience².
In order to find the space for these eighty paintings, the eight owners
of Art and Soul Gallery will not be hanging their work in the gallery
for the month of October. Other Art and Soul artists will be showing
their work in their typical fashion and many will have new work on
display in many different mediums.
Be sure to drop by the Gallery to see all the outstanding original
paintings. The quality and variety is stunning.
We are located at 247 E. Main St., Ashland. Hours are 10-6, Tues.
through Sat., 12-4 Sunday, closed Mondays. On First Fridays, we stay
open until 8 p.m. for the art walk and refreshments will be served.
Call us at 488-9006.
