David Bjurstrom Studio & Gallery

David Bjurstrom Studio & Gallery is the working space for the nationally recognized artist/owner whose drawings can be found in private and corporate collections around the world.

Working in graphite pencil, David takes the medium to levels seldom seen. “I see pencil as the end product rather than just a means to the end,” says Bjurstrom. “This simple tool, used by virtually everyone, is amazingly versatile and the end result in just black and white can make a powerful statement. There is clarity in the subject matter that is sometimes lost in the use of color. With black and white, one is forced to imagine the colors themselves. I think it actually brings you closer to the artwork by asking your participation in this way.”
Though he is most known in the “Western Art” genre, David has always experimented with subject matter of many types, including recent explorations into traditional still-lifes and figures.

Not new to recognition, David has received numerous Best of Show awards from prestigious shows around the West, including four times at the National Western Art Show in Ellensburg, Washington; the Phippen Museum Fine Art Show in Prescott, Arizona; the Colorado Indian Market in Denver and the C. M. Russell Auction in Great Falls, Montana. In 2003, one of his drawings was selected from over 2500 entries in the international Arts For The Parks competition and it’s now on a national tour with that group.
Visit David at his studio. He’s often working on something new and will be glad to meet you and talk about his work.

369 Up

369 Up is alive with creative energy! The gallery upstairs (above the Jewelry Studio) is the happening spot these days with several new artists creating artwork to fit just about anyone’s tastes.

Here you will find fine oils and pastels by Michael Thorniley, Janie Hutchinson and Saundra Crum next to Judy Benson LaNier’s and Bill Pierson’s fresh photography or Richard LeVitt’s and Mike Gantenbein’s boundary-breaking digital prints.

Or if you are into three-dimensional types of art, check out the paper maché characters of Lisa d. Peterson and the exquisite glasswork of Debbie Earley or the modern glass and woodwork furnishings of Mike Cline.

There is always something new at 369 Up. The artists are committed to regularly bringing fresh ideas to the gallery and make a point of displaying different works each month. You can tell that they all enjoy doing what they do, because each work shows a commitment to the creative spirit and technical ability needed to produce work that will be enjoyed for years to come. See for yourself!
