Food, Glorious Food
Foray Gallery

In November Foray Gallery is celebrating the abundance of life, art, and—especially—food. Featured artist Adele Marie Hiles has organized the show, Food, Glorious Food, which spotlights her vibrant paintings of vegetables and fruit, and her beaded kitchen utensils. The other Foray partners are showing works in a variety of mediums that focus on foodstuffs, harvest, cuisine, cooking, eating, gobbling, munching, and table settings as subject matter. Pastels, watercolors, ceramics, photographs, and photo transfers are some of the techniques that are on exhibit. And one of the highlights of the opening reception is edible art.

There are also two special guest artists for the month of November—well-known local painter Jan Schmitz, and Jack Schuman, who is showing fascinating photographs from his “Beatles” period.

Foray Gallery is a co-operative gallery on the corner of 4th and A Streets, in Ashland’s historic “Railroad District.” November will be the first month for new partner Helen Marquardt, a painter based in Grants Pass. She is adding her distinctive style to the lively variety of techniques contributed by the eight other partners. The Gallery is still reviewing portfolios for additional members, and artists who are interested are invited to come in to the gallery and talk to one of the partners. The open hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 to 5, and the phone number is 482-1339.
