Gallery Artists
Who and what lives at The Living Gallery

Painting by Andrew JohnstonThe Living Gallery features artists from the Northwest and beyond, in a variety of media. This month we continue with still-life oils by Jhenna Quinn Lewis. Her method of painting is traditional and time consuming -- sanding between each of many layers of paint, thereby creating the depths of light and dark that we see.

Jhenna's work is in numerous private collections nationwide, and several of her "Pears" are now included in the art collection at Bear Creek Corporation, in Medford, Oregon. She will be featured in the "Artists to Watch" section in the December issue of Southwest Art magazine.

Glasswork by Dan BergsmaAlso represented are papercutting artist, Aki Sogabe, where Asian and Northwest influenced combine; Alaska watercolorist, Byron Birdsall -- a master of light, whose style is inspired by Japanese woodblock artists; plein-air painter Henry Isaacs, whose vibrant impressionism reflects his joy in life; realistic pastels by Joseph Lesser; cityscapes in oil by Andrew Johnston; and more ...

We currently have handblown glass work by eight West Coast artists, several of whom have studied at the renowned Pilchuck Glass school; bronze by Oregon sculptor, Deacon; turned alabaster by David MacFarlane; varied fine ceramic, including celadon from two villages in South Korea, whose artists have continued the tradition through many centuries; and pots by Larry Richmond, which are clearly influenced by Native American basketry.

Your visit to The Living Gallery at any time will offer work by some with whom you are familiar, and others who are new to you. As our name reflects a belief in "art as a living force," we represent a variety of artistic styles, all of which express the human spirit. The Living Gallery provides a bridge between the artist and the public, with a commitment to both.
